Over the years, I’ve had to replace the glass carafe that came with my Krups espresso maker several times. I was thrilled when I found this generic carafe because it’s made of heavier glass and costs about half as much. Now if someone would only come out with a replacement lid! (Krups lids are just as flimsy as their carafes — the tabs that are supposed to hold the lid to the carafe snap off with the slightest touch.)
Bottom line — if you need to replace your Krups carafe, get this Medelco one instead and save up for a better machine.

I really am happy I purchased this carafe. The previous one I had, I stole from a hand-me-down espresso maker. I was delighted to finally replace my cracked carafe, and that this one had a solid and substantial handle.

I had broken the carafe for my Krups espresso machine seven or eight years ago and hadn’t gotten a replacement. When I dug the machine out of storage last month I thought I’d see if I could find a new carafe. The machine is no longer available, but the picture of the universal replacement carafe looked like it would work. It fits perfectly and I’m hooked on vanilla lattes again! I ordered two carafes so I’ll have another replacement when the inevitable occurs and I break one. Good price and it does exactly what it’s supposed to.
The only mark against the carafe is that the lid doesn’t fit tight and will fall off when pouring the espresso out if you don’t hold it on.

Thanks to the “Better than original” review and others. I agree with the reviewer: “thicker and heavier than the original, and half price of the other”. No lid is included, so I reuse the lid, which I have. The lids fits the carafes fine. I have two lids and two carafes: one lightly tight, and one lightly loose. The lid forces coffee to going directly to the carafe (no coffee splashing).
I ordered two carafes because shipping is almost as much as the cost of one carafe; shipping cost of two carafes is the same as one carafe’s. The glass looks clear, high quality, and better than Amazon’s picture. Amazon’s picture shows some greenish of the glass (low quality glass). Shipping speed is fairly good.
Here is my two cents. After washing, I put the carafe on a paper towel and in my coffee maker (reducing the risk of hitting something hard), not together with dishes anymore. I avoid to put the carafe near by anything hard (i.e. dishes, other mugs, cups, etc.). In ten years, my wife broke two carafes; I broke one.
Highly recommended.

This carafe is far better than carafes we’ve previously purchased. Others were easily broken in the dishwasher. We’ve had this over a year now and it’s very solid. The glass itself seems thicker than others we’ve purchased.
